Harnessing Macrophage Lysosomal Lipid Metabolism in Obesity (ATM)

Studying how a cell fat-control system in fat immune cells affects metabolism in obesity

📍 University of Missouri School of Medicine · Columbia, MO · Get directions →

The goal of this study is to evaluate the role of transcription factor EB (TFEB) in adipose (fat) tissue macrophages (ATM) in regulating adipose tissue and systemic metabolic function in obesity. The investigators will assess the differences in ATM lipid metabolism in people with metabolically abnormal obesity and lean individuals.

Acute and Chronic Effects of Obesity

Comparing body fat, muscle, and metabolism in people with obesity from childhood vs adulthood

📍 Concordia University PERFORM Centre · Montreal, Quebec · Get directions →

The goal of this study is to understand if there are differences in the fat, muscle and metabolism of individuals who developed obesity during childhood versus those who developed obesity in adulthood. We will do this by having recruited participants undergo subcutaneous adipose tissue biopsies in the abdomen and thigh, a muscle biopsy in the thigh, collect blood and urine samples, a DEXA scan and 3 submaximal exercise tests.
