Acute treatments for migraine may not provide sufficient pain relief after an initial dose, and a second dose of a given medication may be needed to fully abort an attack. International Headache Society (IHS) global practice recommendations for the Acute Treatment of Migraine suggest a second dose of the same medication within the recommended dose limit in people with headache relapse after successful initial treatment of a migraine attack.

For some patients who come to the emergency department for treatment of a migraine headache, peripheral headache nerve blocks (PHNB) have proven to be an efficient and effective treatment for headache relief. Previous studies have demonstrated that adding steroids as an adjunct treatment to standard migraine treatment can reduce recurrence of headaches in the subsequent few days.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness and tolerability of zavegepant for the acute treatment of migraine attacks amongst participants who are using calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) migraine preventive treatments.
