The Efficacy, Mechanism & Safety of Sodium Glucose Co-Transporter-2 Inhibitor & Glucagon-Like Peptide 1 Receptor Agonist Combination Therapy in Kidney Transplant Recipients
Testing a 12-week diabetes medicine combination in kidney transplant patients with kidney disease
📍 Toronto General Hospital · Toronto, Ontario · Get directions →
The study aims to determine the short-term efficacy, mechanisms and safety of 12 weeks of dapagliflozin and semaglutide combination therapy in 20 KTR, with and without T2D.
- Kidney disease
Monocytes in Subjects With Type 1 Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease
Testing how blood sugar level affects immune cell activation in people with type 1 diabetes and
📍 Cleveland Clinic · Cleveland, OH · Get directions →
This is a cross-sectional study in patients with Type 1 diabetes (TID) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) to test if time in range (TIR) affects the degree of hyperglycemia required for monocyte activation, podocyte injury, and assess if monocyte activation is attenuated by glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) agonist treatment ex vivo.
- Kidney disease
A Study of Eloralintide (LY3841136) in Participants With Renal Impairment and in Participants With Normal Renal Function
Testing how a diabetes medicine in the bloodstream changes in kidney disease
📍 Floridian Clinical Research, LLC · Miami Lakes, FL · +1 more US site · Get directions →
The purpose of the study is to assess the amount of Eloralintide (LY3841136) that reaches the bloodstream and the time it takes for the body to get rid of it when given to participants with renal (kidney) impairment and to healthy participants. The study drug will be administered subcutaneously (SC) (under the skin).
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
Targeting Agonists of Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor for Multiple Sclerosis
Testing a medicine to reduce brain and eye tissue loss in people with multiple sclerosis
📍 Johns Hopkins University · Baltimore, MD · +1 more US site · Get directions →
The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate if the study drug will reduce brain and retinal atrophy by reducing inflammation and subsequently slowing neurodegeneration in people with Multiple Sclerosis. The main outcome for the trial is change in normalized brain parenchymal volume (nBPV), measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
- Type 2 diabetesHeart / cardiovascular diseaseKidney disease
Food and Fitness With Medicine (FFWM)
Testing a food and fitness program to reduce stopping type 2 diabetes medication in postmenopausal
📍 Ohio State Healthy Community Center · Columbus, OH · +3 more US sites · Get directions →
Food and Fitness with Medicine (FFWM) is a 24-week randomized controlled trial (RCT) enrolling 200 post-menopausal women (PMW) with stage 2 cardio-kidney metabolic (CKM) syndrome and type-2 diabetes (T2D) within 6 weeks of initiating glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RAs) to: 1. Examine discontinuation rates of GLP-1RAs (primary outcome); 2.
- Kidney disease
BZLF1 Peptide Vaccine (OSU-2131) With QS-21 for the Prevention of Epstein-Barr Virus Related Cancer in Patients Awaiting Solid Organ Transplants
Testing a vaccine to prevent Epstein-Barr virus cancer in transplant patients
📍 Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center · Columbus, OH · Get directions →
This phase 1B trial tests the safety, side effects and best dose of rh-Hsc70- BZLF1 peptide complex (OSU-2131) with Stimulon (Trademark) QS-21 and evaluates how well it works in preventing Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection and related cancers in healthy volunteers and patients awaiting a solid organ transplant. Currently, patients who receive an organ transplant receive immune suppression therapy which can make it harder for the body to fight infections.
- Obesity / overweightHigh blood pressureCOPD (chronic lung disease)
Feasibility of Semaglutide in Advanced Lung Disease
Testing whether semaglutide can be given safely to people with advanced lung disease
📍 University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine · Philadelphia, PA · Get directions →
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn whether semaglutide, an FDA-approved treatment for diabetes and obesity, is feasible and tolerable in patients with advanced lung disease. The main question\[s\] it aims to answer are: 1.
- Kidney disease
Glucagon-like-peptide-1 Receptor Agonists in Patients Receiving Maintenance Dialysis
Testing whether a weekly diabetes medicine is safe for people on dialysis
📍 Unity Health Toronto · Toronto, Ontario · Get directions →
This study aims to determine if GLP1RA is safe and tolerable in maintenance dialysis population, adherence, and feasibility of a larger definitive cardiovascular outcome trial in this population. Participants will be randomized 1:1 to either weekly subcutaneous semaglutide versus usual care and followed for 26 weeks.
- Dementia / Alzheimer's
Interleukine-2 (IL-2) Plus Semaglutide in Alzheimer's Disease
Testing a treatment with IL-2 and semaglutide in people with Alzheimer's
📍 Houston Methodist Research Institute · Houston, TX · Get directions →
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia. Despite major research efforts, effective treatments that slow or stop disease progression remain limited.
- Obesity / overweightType 2 diabetesKidney disease
Visceral Adipose Tissue and Liver Changes Associated With Semaglutide in CKD
Studying how semaglutide affects belly fat and liver changes in people with chronic kidney disease
📍 Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute · Edmonton, Alberta · Get directions →
Obesity is considered a global pandemic and is associated with various diseases and metabolic complications, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, cholesterol disorders, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease. Obesity can affect the kidneys in two main ways: indirectly, through mechanisms related to diabetes mellitus and/or high blood pressure, and directly, through complex proteins called "adipokines," which are produced by adipocytes.
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
People With Multiple Sclerosis Treated With Ocrelizumab and GLP-1 Agonists
Testing how ocrelizumab and GLP-1 medicines affect disability in multiple sclerosis
📍 Northwestern Memorial Hospital · Chicago, IL · Get directions →
The primary outcome measure is PIRA (progression independent of relapse activity), based primarily on clinical assessment, dichotomized as present or not. For Aim 1, the cohort, patient-derived disability status (PDDS) score, and ambulation score (self-reported) will be the primary endpoints of interest.

Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonist in ADPKD
Testing a 1-year weight-loss medicine to slow kidney cyst growth in adults with ADPKD
📍 University of Colorado - Anschutz Medical Campus · Aurora, CO · Get directions →
The proposed clinical trial aims to assess if a year of treatment with a glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonist, a medication approved for weight management that also improves the body's response to glucose and insulin, can slow kidney growth in adults with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease who are overweight or obese. The study will also evaluate changes in abdominal fat and kidney metabolism using cutting-edge images techniques.
