PET Imaging Evaluation of [11C]SY08
Testing a PET scan tracer to detect alpha-synuclein protein clumps in dementia and Parkinson’s
📍 MGH · Charlestown, MA · Get directions →
The overall goal of the proposed research is to evaluate the use of \[11C\]SY08 as a PET radiotracer for aggregated alpha synuclein (αS) in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD), Multiple system atrophy (MSA), Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) and healthy controls. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of \[11C\]SY08 as a PET radiotracer for αS fibrils in individuals with PD, MSA, DLB and healthy controls.
- Asthma
Timely Administration of IV Magnesium Sulfate in Patients With a Moderate Asthma Exacerbation
Testing early IV magnesium sulfate for people with a moderate asthma flare
📍 Oklahoma Children's Hospital · Oklahoma City, OK · Get directions →
This study aims to identify whether early administration of magnesium sulfate in moderate asthma exacerbations can potentially avoid admission, decrease length of stay in the emergency department (ED), decrease length of stay (LOS) in the general hospital floor vs pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), and decrease the need for respiratory support.
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
Entire-body PET Scans for Multiple Sclerosis
Testing whether whole-body PET scans can better track MS brain and nerve damage
📍 Brain Health Alliance · Ladera Ranch, CA · Get directions →
To evaluate whether an entire-body positron emission tomography (PET) scanner can be exploited to improve evaluation, monitoring and measurement of both peripheral and central demyelination in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients.
- Obesity / overweightHigh blood pressure
Cardiovascular Effects of Angiotensin-(1-7) in Obesity Hypertension
Testing whether angiotensin-(1-7) affects heart health in people with obesity and high blood
📍 Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center · Hershey, PA · Get directions →
Obesity is a global health concern that is associated with high blood pressure and an increased risk for developing cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study is to find out if the investigational drug angiotensin-(1-7) can improve cardiovascular health in people with obesity and high blood pressure.
- Dementia / Alzheimer's
Educational Support Group Program for Bilingual and Spanish-speaking Carepartners and People With Progressive Aphasia
Testing an education and support group for people with progressive aphasia and their caregivers
📍 University of Texas at Austin · Austin, TX · Get directions →
The current study aims to examine the benefits of an education/support group program for individuals with progressive aphasia (caused by various etiologies, diagnoses) and their carepartners. The current study utilizes pre-, post-treatment, and follow-up assessments to measure effects of a psychoeducational support group and an implementation/communication skills training phase on measures of psychosocial function, communicative effectiveness and speech/language function.
- Dementia / Alzheimer's
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Treatment for Alzheimer's Disease
Testing whether rTMS affects memory and brain function in dementia
📍 Massachusetts General Hospital · Boston, MA · Get directions →
In this research study we want to learn more about the effects of non-invasive brain stimulation on memory and brain-network function in cognitively unimpaired older adults and in patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI). This study will use a form of non-invasive brain stimulation called repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS).
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
Effects of Ublituximab on Motor Functions in Multiple Sclerosis
Testing whether ublituximab changes walking and fall risk in people with relapsing multiple
📍 Georgia State University · Atlanta, GA · +1 more US site · Get directions →
The purpose of this study is to test if ublituximab changes walking functions and fall risk in people with relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS). Twenty-five qualified people with RMS will undergo a 48-week ublituximab treatment.
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
Assessment of Synaptic Density in MS
Testing brain imaging to measure synapse density in progressive MS
📍 Brigham and Women's Hospital · Boston, MA · Get directions →
The investigators propose to use the novel SV2a-PET ligand, \[F-18\]SDM-8 to assess synaptic density in progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) (including primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS) and secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS)), given its improved imaging characteristics and potential for large scale applicability. The specific aims of the study are: Aim 1: To compare the cortical and subcortical grey matter synaptic density in PMS patients, patients with relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS), and healthy subjects, using a novel \[F-18\] labeled synaptic density PET ligand, \[F-18\]SDM8, also known as \[F-18\]SynvesT-1.
- DepressionDementia / Alzheimer's
Psilocybin for Depression in People With Mild Cognitive Impairment or Early Alzheimer's Disease
Testing psilocybin to treat depression in people with early Alzheimer’s or mild cognitive decline
📍 Johns Hopkins Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research · Baltimore, MD · Get directions →
This open-label pilot study examines whether the hallucinogenic drug, psilocybin, given under supportive conditions, is safe and effective for depression in people with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or early Alzheimer's Disease (AD). This study will also assess whether psilocybin may improve quality of life in those individuals.
- Dementia / Alzheimer's
Glutathione, Brain Metabolism and Inflammation in Alzheimer's Disease
Testing glutathione on brain fuel use and inflammation in dementia
📍 Baylor College of Medicine · Houston, TX · Get directions →
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is associated with significant, progressive cognitive decline. Key defects in mitochondrial fuel metabolism insulin resistance, inflammation and decreased brain glucose uptake are linked to AD.
- Obesity / overweightHigh blood pressure
Sympathetic Transduction in Obesity-associated Hypertension (OB-HTN)
Studying how the nervous system controls blood pressure in obesity and high blood pressure
📍 University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center · Dallas, TX · Get directions →
The purpose of this study is to understand how the nervous system communicates to blood vessels to increase blood pressure during stress. The study will also investigate how hypertension and obesity influence the nervous system and vascular function.
