Escalating Doses of VAS-101 in Subjects With Stable Sickle Cell Disease
Testing higher doses of VAS-101 in people with stable sickle cell disease
📍 National Institutes of Health Clinical Center · Bethesda, MD · Get directions →
Background: Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an inherited blood disorder. The disease affects the ability of red blood cells to carry oxygen.

Kidney Health: Eat Well, Live Well
Testing a 6-month community program about diet for early kidney disease
📍 Harris Health System's Outpatient Center · Houston, TX · +2 more US sites · Get directions →
This two-arm, parallel randomized trial study will assess the efficacy of a 6-month (26 weeks) community-based program in reducing kidney injury (as Urine Albumin to Creatinine ratio, uACR), cardiovascular risk (as Hemoglobin A1C and blood pressure), mental health (as PHQ-8) and diet quality (as fruits and vegetables intake and Healthy Eating Index) in community-dwelling, low-income adults diagnosed with early chronic kidney disease (stages 2 or 3 and not on kidney replacement therapies) compared to educational materials and usual care alone.

Integrative Medicine in Pain Management in Sickle Cell Disease, 2.0
Testing whether acupuncture can reduce pain in people with sickle cell disease
📍 Indiana University School of Medicine · Indianapolis, IN · Get directions →
The proposed research is to determine the clinical efficacy and neurobiological mechanisms of acupuncture analgesia in patients with sickle cell disease.
- Lupus (SLE)💵 May compensate
INTERSTELLAR - International Study Evaluating Lupus Outcomes After Anifrolumab Real World Use
Studying how adding anifrolumab to usual care affects lupus in real life
📍 Research Site · Buenos Aires, · Get directions →
INTERSTELLAR study will generate critical prospective real-world evidence on the benefits of adding Anifrolumab to standard of care treatment for SLE in routine clinical practice, to inform physicians, payers and patients. The study will use clinical assessments that are relevant for SLE-treating physicians in routine clinical practice, as well as introduce a specific measure for skin manifestations to affirm the potency of anifrolumab in treating SLE-related skin manifestations.

Efficacy and Safety of Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 Inhibitors in Adolescents With Early Stages of Chronic Kidney Disease
Testing kidney disease drug effects and safety in teens with early CKD
📍 Instituto de atención Integral de Enfermedades Renales del Estado de Aguascalientes · Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes · Get directions →
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is highly prevalent in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico, particularly among adolescents and young adults. Epidemiologic and histologic studies suggest that this burden is largely driven by reduced nephron endowment of prenatal origin, leading to compensatory glomerular hyperfiltration, adaptive podocytopathy, and persistent albuminuria at early stages of disease.
- Type 2 diabetesKidney disease💵 May compensate
Mechanism of SGLT2 Inhibition in the Kidney
Testing how SGLT2 medicines affect kidney function in type 2 diabetes
📍 University of Michigan · Ann Arbor, MI · Get directions →
The goal of this open-label, non-randomized clinical trial is to determine what effects, if any, an FDA-approved drug class known as SGLT2 inhibitors (Canagliflozin or INVOKANA) has any protective effects on kidney function in Type 2 diabetes. We are looking for participants 18-80 years of age, who have had a clinical diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes for ≥ 3 years.

A Research Trial to Assess if Cenerimod is Efficacious and Safe to Treat Active Lupus Nephritis on Top of Regular Treatment
Testing whether cenerimod added to usual treatment helps adults with active lupus nephritis
📍 Alloy Clinical Research LLC · Kissimmee, FL · +10 more US sites · Get directions →
The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if cenerimod, on top of regular treatment, works to treat active lupus nephritis in adults with systemic lupus erythematosus and active lupus nephritis. It will also learn about the safety of cenerimod.

Sotagliflozin to Slow Kidney Function Decline in Persons With Type 1 Diabetes and Diabetic Kidney Disease
Testing whether sotagliflozin can slow kidney damage in type 1 diabetes
📍 Stanford University Medical Center · Stanford, CA · +12 more US sites · Get directions →
Powerful new drugs that can prevent or delay end stage kidney disease (ESKD) - so called sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) - are now available for patients with type 2 diabetes. Whether these drugs have similar effects in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) remains unknown because of the few studies in this population, due to concerns about the increase in risk of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA, a serious, potentially fatal acute complication of diabetes due to the accumulation of substances called ketone bodies) observed with SGLT2i therapy in T1D.

Prevalence of Gastric Motor Dysfunction and Upper GI Symptoms in Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasias
Studying stomach blood-vessel changes in GAVE and related symptoms
📍 Mayo Clinic · Rochester, MN · Get directions →
The researchers are trying to find out more about Gastric Antral Vascular Ectasia (GAVE). This is a condition that affects the blood vessels in the stomach, leading to their enlargement and possible bleeding.
- Asthma💵 May compensate
A Study Assessing the Effect of Dupilumab on Inducing Clinical Remission in Asthma
Testing whether an asthma medicine can help people achieve full asthma control
📍 Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital · Nedlands, Western Australia · Get directions →
This study tests whether an asthma medication called dupilumab can help people achieve complete asthma control (called "remission") when given earlier in their disease, before asthma becomes severe. Currently, most people with asthma only receive advanced treatments like biologics after their condition has worsened significantly and caused lung damage.

Enhancing Physical Function in Older Adults With Chronic Kidney Disease
Testing a 12-week resistance training program for older adults with advanced kidney disease
📍 Wake Forest University Health Sciences · Winston-Salem, NC · Get directions →
The goal of this pilot randomized controlled trial is to examine the feasibility and safety of a 12-week high-velocity resistance training (HVRT) intervention in older adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 4-5 and to generate preliminary data to inform a future study investigating the efficacy of HVRT for improving muscle power and physical function. Researchers will compare HVRT to an attention control condition consisting of weekly group sessions covering topics on healthy lifestyle.
