Parallel-group, prospective, randomized, controlled phase III trial of home High flow Nasal Therapy (HFNT) via myAirvo 3 plus usual COPD medical care vs. usual COPD medical care, for at least 1 year and up to two years in 642 GOLD Grade D, Stages II-IV patients with moderate to very severe COPD at risk for moderate and severe exacerbations with a prior history of severe exacerbation requiring hospitalization within the past 6 weeks.

✅ You may be able to join if…
- •You can sign a consent form and agree to follow study steps for the study time.
- •You are male or female and age 30 or older.
- •You have COPD with GOLD stage II to IV (spirometry shows FEV1/FVC < 70% and FEV1 < 80%).
- •Your COPD symptoms are significant (MRC 2 or higher OR CAT 10 or higher).
- •You had a severe COPD exacerbation that required hospitalization within the past 6 weeks, and you are now in a stable state after that stay.
🚫 You may not be able to join if…
- •You currently use positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy like CPAP or non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NPPV).
- •You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- •You need oxygen at a rate greater than 15 L/min.
- •You cannot tolerate nasal prongs (the device uses nasal prongs).
- •You had recent surgery or injury in the upper airway or head/neck area within the past month.

Do I need insurance? Will anyone ask about my immigration status?+
No. You do not need health insurance to take part in a research study, and you will not be asked about your immigration status to join. Taking part is about whether you're a medical fit for the study.
What if English isn't my first language?+
You have the right to understand everything before you agree. Study sites can often provide materials or an interpreter in your language — you can ask the coordinator for one.
Is my information private?+
Yes. Your health information is only shared with the study sites you choose to be contacted by, and only to help match and enroll you. It is never sold, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
